Happy Solstice
Me and a few friends will be off to Castlerigg tonight, as we have done for many years (execpt the Foot&Mouth year when it was closed). Hopefully the rain will stay off and the morning will be bright. Hope to see you all there for a very chilled out evening/morning. If you've not been before here's a few reg's ive picked up on... no amplified music, no tents, no fires, no hassle. hope you all have a good'un wherever you may be.

castlerigg
We went to castlerigg for the solstice and must say it was an amazing experience and hope to go again next year.
We went up on two nights but the first night (the night of the 20th leading into the morning and the sunrise of the 21st) had the best atmosphere and the most people attended.
There was a variety of different people there - including some fire throwers who were really good and a host of musicians playing such instruments as flutes, acoustic guitars and drums - very intense & powerful.
By the time of the sunrise at around 4.30 am (which we were fortunate to see by being given a clear sky) there was a great gathering of people - maybe 150 people - we didn't really count!

Anyway we had a great time and will probabily come up with more friends next year. We hope to see you all there again!

Re: castlerigg stone circle/summer solstice
Hi

There's regularly things on at Castlerigg for the Solstice - we (Cumbrian Druid order) will be there for the night and the dawn, and holding ceremony to welcome the Sun rise on His longest day, and we welcome anyone who wishes to join us in Circle there. If you have a poem or song you want to share too, that'd be great!

Re: castlerigg stone circle/summer solstice
Hi!!

Last year, we were at Castlerigg Stone Circle for the Solstice (there were about 200/250 people around) and we enjoyed it so much, we'd like to come back this year.

However, I was told that on certain years, the party is held on a different night than the 20th to 21st due to the timings of the calendar.

Please could someone tell me which date will be the night of the celebrations, so we can come and join you.

Thank you so much

Re: castlerigg stone circle/summer solstice
If the celebration at Castlerigg is to be held at the same time as Stonehenge then it will be the night of Saturday 20th - Sunday 21st.

There is a Cumbrian Druid Order website at http://cumbriandruidorder.moonfruit.com/

Hope this helps.
